Still working on the client's project. My prog. pair and I noticed something interesting when using a timer with a usercontrol. We are using the timer to fire off a poling process to check status posted to a DB table. The status is a time stamp indicating completion of a remote running process (which may or may not be running on the machine hosting the DB). I am working on a CSLA project, and I've run into something strange. I have parent object with a child collection. I am binding the child collection to a flexgrid, and I want to have the grid handle the editing/add new row functionality. More of a convenient place to stick this so I can find it later..... My programming partner and I recently were trying to get one of our custom types to use implicit conversion using reflection. It didn't work. We couldn't get to the conversion code no matter what we did. We found out that we can't use reflection that way. So, we used the suggestion in this great MSDN forum post

Ok, I am an avid fan of superhero movies. I love 'em, I really do. Been a comic book fan for ages. We were working on Parent-Child-Grandchild relationships in our CSLA project the other day. The client developer and I were discussing the best approach. We are trying to make as few trips to the database as possible (naturally), so we are using stored procedures that return several result sets. This is inline with the method normally used. This works great, as you can make a single trip and get all the parent-child data you need. However, this paradigm falls down when grandchildren are introduced....

Well, I got my tickets. Not the best in town, but not horrible. We *might* even be under the roof cover. Hard to say. Anyway, a good buddy of mine is going to the show with me. That is too cool. :-) It's worth noting, however, that it took me 2.5 hours to get these seats. I was in line, along with the thousands of other people, hammering the server at livenation.com to get tickets. I made Gold elite status this week on American Airlines. Nice, nice, nice. I can now get the exit row (and I have for the next month) and I get to board with group 1. I don't have to compete as much for the best (non-first class) seats and I get first crack at the overhead bins. Those two things seriously rock. Oh, yes...do they ever!
