Theo Moore Questions... Morphology? Longevity? Incept dates?

Sheri and I just went to see 300. I am a serious action movie/comic book geek as anyone who knows me will normally tell you. I am also a big Frank Miller fan, but I confess I'd not read this particular graphic novel. I went in with only my previous experience with Miller to tell me what to expect.

This is bloody and dark, even for Miller.

This isn't to say I didn't like it. I loved it, as a matter of fact. It is not a movie for kids. Period. Not even if your particular kid is normally ok with these kinds of movies. This movie is rough. The scenes are amazing, as is the motion cinematography. Don't go expecting phenomenal acting or character development (there really isn't any); make no mistake that you are going to see this movie as a "moving comic book". The acting isn't bad, by the way; it's right inline with this type of movie. It's just that the importance of this movie isn't rooted in the acting, but in the filmaking itself. As I say in the title, it's a seriously "bloody beauty".

Also, don't go expecting to see a historically accurate movie (it isn't), but instead an adaptation modified to play better on a screen. The fights are almost musical in nature....also, if you see it, pay attention to the cloaks. They flow like water and make this bloody fight seem almost dance-like. Very, very cool. There are so many scenes of beautiful fighting that I can't begin to pick a fave. Sheri liked it too, by the way. She does think that it is mostly a "guy" type movie, but she's glad she went to see it,

This movie will never be one of my faves, but I can tell you that it's going to be one I purchase. If you intend to see it, you must see it in the theatre. If you don't, you are robbing yourself of some breathtaking visuals. On the Theo scale, this would be "Should be seen in the theatre, and I'll probably own it".

Nah, certainly one I liked a whole lot, but not in my "favourites" category. I mean, it's got blood and swords....what's not to like?
