I've been in a class for CSLA for the last three days. I'd never really seen CSLA before, so the opportunity to see the words in the books in action was a golden one. I found the subject interesting, and since I will be on a CSLA gig on Tuesday, I am especially thankful to have been able to get it. My new employer called me and said they could get me the training, and would I like it? Needless to say, I took it.
First off, the class involved like slides that we blew through in 15 minutes day one. That's it. The rest of the time, we were looking at the code, writing code, and using code. It was excellent! I've been to classes when there are too many slides and not enough code. This was not one of those.
I was not terribly pleased with my instructor, however. Brilliant guy, and communicated the ideas he wanted to communicate very, very well. However, I must say that I didn't like his teaching style much. He was rather unprofessional, IMO. Poor language, off colour comments, etc. I also feel like that he was pushing 3rd party tools very hard. Much harder than I would like. It was tough to keep up with him using some of the tools he had to speed his coding. I feel like the speed he gained lost me often, and lost many of us often. Overall, the summary I would give is that I feel like he was able to teach us well in spite of his teaching techniques rather than because of them.
I've a hunch there will be more posts coming on CSLA as I get time....and get frustrated......
