I did some further research into the CD copy protection mentioned in my last post last night; I had bad information. The new Santana CD does have copy protection, but it was erroneously reported to be the Sony version. However, I was right in the first place: it uses a new version of the MediaMax (version 5, I think) software by SunnComm. My apologies for the error; I trusted the news outlets where I'd read this.
However, it doesn't change my belief that copy-protection has gone too far when companies are using such methods to protect their CDs. Oh, they can do it, sure. I just won't knowingly buy any with copy protection on it any more, period.
