I was reading some in a great reference by Larry Roof today, The Definitive Guide to the .Net Compact Framework (Apress) when I realized I had been mistaken for sometime on something very small, but rather significant in an anal retentive way: GDI+ doesn't exist in the CF; it's simply GDI. Given the things that are missing, this makes great sense. Not terribly important, but I thought it worth mentioning. Since Chris felt obligated to post my opinion on this, I thought I'd weigh in also. Ok, ok....I am an idiot. Everyone has said so, but now I know for sure. I installed the SQL Server Standard 2005 on my machine with no problems, and this was right along side the SQLEXPRESS version that installs with VS 2005. However, I had no client tools! No SQL Server Management Studio! Where was it? Well, some of you are undoubtably laughing already: the client tool install is separate. I am such a goof sometimes....oy

Ok, I've seen this debated all over the place, and I am looking for an answer from someone who has actually done it. Can the two co-exist? Are there any concerns? I only got to attend the VS launch session. I couldn't get that much time off, but it was worthwhile. ASP.Net looks very good, as does SQL Server 2005. I was given the standard versions of both of these, and I am very excited about that, too. The speaker was pretty good, and the presentation went off without any hitches. I did some further research into the CD copy protection mentioned in my last post last night; I had bad information. The new Santana CD does have copy protection, but it was erroneously reported to be the Sony version. However, I was right in the first place: it uses a new version of the MediaMax (version 5, I think) software by SunnComm. My apologies for the error; I trusted the news outlets where I'd read this.
