Here I am staring at the blinking cursor, and wondering what to say. Naturally, were I not actually staring at the Blog screen, I'd have tons. Let's hope that I at least have something to say eventually. :-)
Well, I guess an introduction is in order...
My name is Theo Moore. I have been a VB6 programmer working primarily on database applications for the Jet and SQL Server platforms. My speciality has been writing database conversions and VB customizations for my company. I also have been doing QA, most recently writing VB6 ActiveX Dlls that plug into our custom test harness to test our software.
I have recently made the step into VB.Net, and I am loving it. I have much to learn yet (don't we all), but I like what I am doing. I am currently writing game applications for Windows CE powered mobile devices, which has been a real good time. The .Net compact framework was a brilliant stroke of design that will allow most anyone to write these kinds of applications.
I am also learning ASP.Net along with the rest of the user group of which I am a member. We are the Greater Charleston South Carolina .Net User Group (www.gcnug.org), centered in Charleston, SC. I am a founding member of the group, a member of the steering committee, and the user group librarian. I also write reviews for our many sponsors, including Apress books. I am going to be working on a Library module for our website in the near future using DotNetNuke. If you are interested in web design, I can't speak highly enough of it.
On a more personal note, I am huge music fan, hockey fan. I am insanely big geek for SW movies, role-playing games (online and otherwise...go WoW!), and fantasy novels.
Well, that's about enough to get started...off we go!
