Tim Hibbard CEO for EnGraph software

Well, after attending DevEssentials in Kansas City and listening to Jeff Julian speak on the importance of community and blogging your individual development efforts, I decided it would be a good idea to start blogging on my own.  I have been moblogging for a while, but this is my first official text post.

I live in Lawrence, KS and develop in .net, SQL, and VBA Access for a small virtual company.  I have been programming ever since my Dad gave me a Mac Plus and ZBasic at the ripe age of 10.  I also follow the mobile phone/pda industry pretty closely and have done some mobile development.

I have several projects that I am working on.  Hopefully, blogging them will serve as documentation for myself and help for anybody else that runs into the same problems.

ParaPlan LiveDispatch is for management of a para-taxi operation with an Access front end and a linked SQL back end.  I recently migrated to SQL and am still getting the bugs out.  This product is based on our ParaPlan core written by the original developer in our company, Kyle Archer. We have a migration path to .net that will take place over the next year.

ContactsTray is a trusted office addin written that populates your Outlook contacts into a sliding tray that appears on the left of your screen.  You can click a contact (or multiple) to send email or right click to edit the contacts details.  Since it is trusted, you do not get the typical Outlook security warning and it loads and exits with Outlook.  I have only tested it with Outlook 2003 though. It is written in VB .net and can be downloaded here.

I wrote a program rename all my .mp3s based on the ID tag into Artist - Album - Track - Title format.  I then added them to a SQL server database and wrote a VB .net application that retrieves them over the internet via a ftp site.  It allows for downloads to be queued, and searching by artist, album, track, year, genre, and date uploaded.  I want to allow for client uploads and streaming in the future.  Ftp is a pain to deal with and I would like to switch that to a different protocol sometime too.

It's great to see other people from Lawrence get into the .NET blogging world. Sounds like you should have a lot of interesting things to talk about in the future.
