Nintendo - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Update 2010-03-23 – Sorry, but the images and downloads were hosted on a server that is no longer available. I will try to find the sample code bits and images on a backup sometime! This made my morning. As I was eating my "adult" cereal, I hoped for some Nintendo Cereal System - Zelda side! http://www.i-mockery.com/mi... My favs include the Power Glove and The Wizard. Enjoy :) ......

Managed Bluetooth API for .NET
The folks over at OpenNETCF.org are in the know! This site is an excellent resource for .NET Compact Framework and is choc full of shared source projects, including Application Blocks simliar to those found in Enterprise Library. I recently discovered the OpenNETCF Bluetooth API, which provides a managed API exposing Bluetooth functionality in both the .NET Framework and the .NET Compact Framework. I've been tinkering with this for about an hour, and have got the DesktopListener sample up and running ......

Macromedia MAX 2005 Session Schedule & Abstract
The schedules for MAX 2005 have been released! My session, Developing Hybrid Applications with ColdFusion and Java, will be held at the following times: Tuesday, October 18 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Wednesday, October 19 - 2:45 PM - 3:45 PM Here's the abstract for my session: ColdFusion is powered by Java internally, and ColdFusion applications can leverage the power of Java and the J2EE platform to deliver the best of both worlds: the power of Java and the productivity of ColdFusion. This session will ......

I am a Defender-ship
Found this through Demian's blog. I LOVE 80's video games! I am a Defender-ship.I am fiercely protective of my friends and loved ones, and unforgiving of any who would hurt them. Speed and foresight are my strengths, at the cost of a little clumsiness. I'm most comfortable with a few friends, but sometimes particularly enjoy spending time in larger groups. What Video Game Character Are You ......

Speaking at Macromedia MAX 2005
I just received my invitation to present at Macromedia MAX 2005 in Anaheim, CA! Based on all of the positive feedback from my session last year, I’ve been invited back to present on the same topic, refactored for ColdFusion MX 7. The new session, “Developing Hybrid Applications with ColdFusion and Java” will cover many of the same topics from my previous session; however, many of the new Java facilities made available by ColdFusion MX 7 will be covered, such as Java Event Gateways. I’ll be posting ......

Microsoft TechEd 2005 Recap
It seems that the server on which this blog is hosted was experiencing problems over the weekend, so I’m sorry that my recap was not posted sooner. Ending the week with a fun night at Universal Orlando was perfect – the Hitachi Consulting crew met up (along with my good friend Arash) and partied like junior high kids, except for those with booze ;) Friday was not too productive, and our flight back to LAX departed around 1:00 PM. I met up with some folks for breakfast, and manned the seemingly empty ......

Day Four: Microsoft TechEd 2005
It's by no coincidence that my posts are getting shorter as the week progresses here at TechEd. Today was another great day. I attended few really good sessions covering Globalization and CLR Internals – very compelling stuff. I’m now off to the attendee party at Universal Studios. Should be fun – that is, if the rain stops! We’ll see, maybe a late night post will provide more insight ;) ......

Day Three: Microsoft TechEd 2005
Today was another great day in Orlando. I met an old friend for lunch, saw even more compelling reasons to use BizTalk, and learned how to partition data in SQL Server 2005 (thanks to Ryan Clay, also from Hitachi Consulting.) A big “thank you” to Yumay Chang from hosting a wonderful dinner for the CSI team at Vito’s Chophouse! The meal was fantastic, and the conversation was fun – as always. Sorry for the short recap, but I have much work to do ......

Google Print
This may be old news, but I recently discovered Google Print. This service will searched published, printed works for keywords and display actual previews from the text with the keyword(s) highlighted - brilliant! Here's a link to my name in Ben Forta's Regex book. http://print.google.com/pri... I'm not sure how many printed ......

Day Two: Microsoft TechEd 2005
After burning the midnight oil until something past 4:00 AM to get our demo working, I missed the keynote. However, a flash of emails from others at the keynote informed me that the next "wave" or products from Microsoft (Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and BizTalk Server 2006) would be released the week of November 7. This is great news, and I am excited to get our clients onto the new platform (.NET 2.0, SQL 2005.) Not to mislead you, 4:00 AM was not the time that our demo was fixed or completed. ......

Day One: Microsoft TechEd 2005
Today was a long day! Steve Ballmer gave an energetic (to say the least) introduction to TechEd. As with most conferences I’ve been to, the keynote featured a gimmicky stab at The Techie Show, a spoof of The Daily Show. However, this spoof featured Samantha Bee, an actual correspondent from The Daily Show, making it a little-less cheesy. As a staffer, I was not allowed to be in the actual Keynote Hall (boo!) We were all herded into an overflow room to watch it on huge-ass screens. After the keynote, ......

Registration Day: Microsoft TechEd 2005
After checking in at the Staff booth and scoping out the CSI Track Cabana (where Pete and I will be most of the week,) I figured I’d better stop off and blog something. The facilities at the Orange County Convention Center are very nice, and as always, Microsoft knows how to feed the geeks (I pilfered some of my favorite Zone bars and shoved them into my bag.) The ubiquitous TechEd bag is quite nice this year; I am glad to see that it was a messenger bag vs. the usual backpack. Also, while checking-in ......

Central Florida: You're Hot and Sticky, But I Love You
My friend Pete and I arrived in Orlando yesterday afternoon for Microsoft TechEd 2005, and the first thing that I can say is "bravo" to those folks who live here and can deal with the humidity! Thanks to Pete's mad skillz, I got a nice upgrade to First on the flight hear, and found myself drooling on the poor sap sitting next to me ;) After checking into our hotel, we ventured out to the Kennedy Space Center of the East Coast of Florida, only to be turned away as that Visitor Center was closed. Not ......
