Lately I have been having lots of conversations with my friends about operating systems and all its applications and how one is better than the other... usually we tend to think "Mac OS is for graphic designers, web designers, etc; Windows is for sys admins; Linux (any of its flavors) is for hackers and Solaris is for... well, 'different people'"
I have had a chance to use every single one of these operating systems at least once (this last case was specifically Solaris, just used it for my pregraduate thesis) to work and do the things everybody does, write code, use administrative tools to configure websites and firewalls and stuff like that, scan ports, do a couple of documents, presentations, view comics, play ocasional games (just the ones that come bundled with the OS, the good gaming is only possible on Windows and everybody -even Windows haters- knows that)... and well that is all I can remember, what I am trying to say is that I have never had trouble finding everything I need to get things done in any of the systems, I am not defending any of them, they all have their flaws and make us wish "it would be perfect only if....", but with most of them I have never had many bitching sessions.. not even trying to sync external gadgets like ipods and smartphones....
Well, maybe I am just easily pleased... but... I have always thought that with a little brains, you always can find a handy way to solve all your needs with the tools given to you and do not suffer in the doing it...
