Software Development Project

Hi guys!

So yesterday I had the interview for my final college assignment. And....... I got a distinction =D

I was damn worried about this assignment cos it was huge, and it contained SEVERAL criteria, which were SEVERAL pages long.

Anyway I am very happy with the results, and I'm thinking about continuing this project in my free time and then launch it in the coming months...

Here are a couple of screen shots of the website so far :) Don't hesitate to ask stuff, or requesting ideas to be added to this project. Thanks :)

A few updates

Hi guys and gals,

As some of you may know, I have quit working on SharePoint for the past five months, to focus more on my very last months of studies, for which I am programming a social website which I am hoping to launch this year or earlier next year.

As such, I have not been reading or working on SharePoint, and had my interests focused on this project. I am focusing more on C# .NET and AJAX, together with database: MS SQL SERVER.

During the last couple of weeks I have been on the look out for a job, and I'm happy to announce that as from next month (after I finish of my project) I will be working with a local company which does Affiliate Marketing products. I am very looking forward into getting familiar with these concepts and to further my knowledge on new programming skills :-)

Should you like to contact me for more information, job offers or just for a connection, please check out:

Thank you!

Steph

I'm an MSP!

As of March 6th, I have become one of the few MSPs in Malta. MSP stands for Microsoft Student Partners.

I am very thrilled about this, and am looking very forward in meeting with the group and start experiencing this one year programme.

For those of you who have no idea what an MSP is... Here is some information I found online:

"The Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) Program is an annual award that recognizes people who have made outstanding contributions to the student technical community. We reward and recognize the most talented students from universities across the country for their dedication, passion and involvement with Microsoft each academic year.
If you are passionate about technology, ready to share your knowledge and want to develop skills outside your field of study, we want to hear from you."

PHP Shopping Cart

I have been so quiet lately and I feel bad to ignoring you all so I thought about sharing with you a couple of screen shots from the main project I have been working on.

This is a Shopping Cart which will hopefully be online some time soon. The client side was done in PHP. Server side is in C#. I'm thinking of doing the client side with C# too eventually, to be sold as a whole package since originally this was a college assignment.

Here goes screenshot from client side:

Would appreciate it if I could get some comments :-)

Thanks

Steffi

Unhide / Show File Extensions in Microsoft Vista

So I wanted to show the file extensions in Windows Vista... It doesn't sound so difficult, right?

Well - it took me a while to figure it out since I thought that I'd better do it myself than look it up on the internet, so I will familiarize myself a bit with Vista, since the laptop I bought cannot be downgraded to XP (I really do not love Vista).

Anyway this is what you should do:

  • Go to any folder you have on your desktop
  • Click on the button Organise (this is usually found on the top left of the folder)

  • Choose the View tab
  • UNTICK 'Hide extensions for known file types'

Enjoy!

:-)

[PHP] Declaring Sessions

When declaring sessions in PHP, you need to declare it on the very fist line of the php file, with no spaces before it. Therefore, this means it has to be even before the DOCTYPE if you are making use of html in the same page.

The code to write is the following:

<?
 session_start();
?>

With this code, you are now able to create sessions, read from sessions, check if a session is existing or not, and to destroy sessions.

Announcement: Windows XP

It is said, that Windows XP can still be bought by pc builders and resellers until May 30, 2009. However, the last orders are going to be taken on the 31st January of next year.

However, May 30th is NOT the end of Microsoft XP. It has been announced that very bargained computers are still going to be sold with Windows XP until June 30th of 2010.
