Remove the following assemblies from GAC:

1) Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Portal and all the resource DLLs,

2) Microsoft.Dynamics.Framework.Portal.CommonControls,

3) Microsoft.Dynamics.WebParts and all the resource DLLs

Install the AxWebParts.cab solution from either of the following:

1) Ax Setup install Enterprise Portal and Roles Center

2) Go to Sharepoint Central Administration –> Operations Management-> Solutions Management, check if axwebpart.cab is present and “Error”

is displayed against it. Deploy the solution from here directly, this will save some time instead of running Ax Setup and waiting for installation of complete EP Site.

Hi!
I get the same error when trying to setup 2 parallell Enterprise Portal Sites on the same hardware (following instructions on https://blogs.msdn.com/solutions/archive/2006/09/11/ep-configuration-single-web-server-multiple-aos-installations.aspx)

The files mensioned for deletion does not exist om my web-server so nothing to delete...

This has the effect that the existing Ax-solution in SharePoint is retracted/deleted from SharePoint
Any suggestions to what I´m doing wrong?

Hi Tomas,

From what I understand you problem is due to the absence of the AxWebPart.cab solution. With what I know this cab file should be present in the SharePoint for a successful installation of Enterprise Portal. Also this solution should be avaliable to both the website, this might need some exploration since it is possible to Deploy solution to multiple sites.

To install the second site my recommendation would be not to use the setup as it will again try to install the solution. If possible to try to achieve all teh setps manually, and finally Deploy axwebpart.cab file for the new second web site from the solutions management feature of SharePoint.

Hi, thanx for your response.
I understand what you are saying, and I agree that to reinstall EP/Role Center from Ax setup is risky as it clearly can destroy the existing Enterprise Portal site.
The only problem is how to figure-out all the steps that the setup does in order to do this manually.
Among other things it reeds setup-values from Ax (epsetupadmin) as to what site-name to use, creates new sharepoint web-site with suffix etc.

Is there really no way to use existing setup tools to install a second Enterprise Portal Site working with a separate AOS instance (sql database) on a hardware that has an existing complete Ax installation (Role Center mm). ??
This has to be a common scenario in a test/dev environment... /Tomas

I hope this might help someone. I experienced failure while deploying the AxWebPart.cab, and the dll couldn't register in GAC. This was due to no more free RAM on the server which blocked the GAC. After closing a couple Visual Studio sessions and freeing some RAM, the deployment of the cab went smoothly!!!
