Windows Live Writer Beta - Test Post #2

Post #1 was to my Windows Live Spaces blog. I've moved all of my XBOX/XBLA posts over there.

Me on Windows Live Spaces:

So far I can see:

  • Basic WYSIWYG HTML support (much like Google's Writely, or VS2005, or the Expression Designer)
  • Spell checking - but not on the fly, in fact it's not even checked prior to publishing unless you turn it on (under Tools|Preferences)
  • Multiple blog support
  • Multiple Ping server support
  • Map Insert support using Windows Live Local (although my house in Woodbridge, VA is unavailable - and it suggests some place in France as a possible alternative - hmm, what are they saying to me?)
  • Images are automatically uploaded to Windows Live Spaces. Cool.

My biggest pet peeve so far? It doesn't use an MDI interface... it's only SDI as far as I can tell. So, basically after you publish an entry... you have to either a) close and restart, or b) open up a new windows by clicking on the New or Create a new post... links. That's moronic. So is Geekswithblogs still having that stupid “Specified cast is not valid.” - and yes, it prevents Windows Live Writer from posting as well. Sigh...
