Remember Sanford & Son?

Yeah, Sanford was a junk dealer. Anyone could look these junk dealer's up in a phone book, and they would come out and pick up your junk (presumably if they thought they could sell it). I've been planning to junk some stuff for months so my home is ready for sale (it goes on sale Saturday), but couldn't find a junk yard... or a Sanford & Son-like junk dealer. Of course, there is 1-800-GET-JUNK or some crap like that... but they charge a minimum of $100, and up to $500 if you fill their MINIATURE LITTLE (european-style) trucks. Forget that...

When I finally hooked up with a realator last saturday, I asked him. He told me about the Fairfax County Transfer Station. Waoah? Transfer station? WTF is that? So I do some research and found out that the county has an organized place you can take your junk. Unless you are junking a refridgerator... it's free to county residents. Sweet! Of course, you do have to haul it there yourself... which leads to me to find a friend with a truck. Wish me luck.
