NewsGator announced on October 4th that they had finally acquired a Mac RSS aggregator. I've been waiting for this for so long! At one point I even considered building my own AppleScript for Entourage 2004 (Microsoft Outlook for OSX) to give me access to my NewsGator (going so far as to actually ask Greg & Co. for the NG API) subscription!
I've been a reader of DrunkenBlog for a few years now... and recently DB talked about the Ranchero acquisition - but from the who is this NewsGator perspective and how are they going to affect the NetNewsWire/Mac community. I come from the exact opposite standpoint... I was more familiar with NewsGator than I was with NetNewsWire for OSX. I've been a NewsGator subscriber user for 3 years now (both Outlook and Web editions) and a Mac User for about 2 years.
A few months back, I sent an email to Greg Reinacker suggesting that NewsGator acquire a Mac RSS reader - since they had recently acquired a FeedDemon for XP (See "Server Side Sync - The Next Killer Feature" ). Though Greg didn't choose my suggested aggregator, I'm glad that he did pick something to fill in NewsGator's Mac sync hole. Finally, I'm going to have a rich client to read and archive posts just like windows users had with the NewsGator script for Outlook 2003! This has been the one major HOLE in my Mac experience from day one... and I'm ecstatic that it has finally been addressed by NewsGator! Greg - you ROCK. I might even dream about you again. :)
