The death throws of the LAMP scripter (or in this case the C++ dev on Linux) begins. After a brief hiatus from the blogosphere, Scoble brings word that Sun is laying off Linux folks... just as Microsoft is hiring more Linux folks than ever. You can work anywhere from the Virtual Server & PC Team to the MapPoint teams... and I'd add that the Office 2004 team probably needs some talented guys from the Linux world as well. Ding, Ding.
You didn't think Miguel de Icaza (author of the CLR implementation on Linux aka. Mono) picked the CLR over the fractured C++/Java world on Linux for nothing did you? Don Box (Microsoft Indigo Product Unit Manager) has vowed to hire Miguel>, but has so far been successful (here's a video of the song he sang to him at PDC 2003; "the" song starts about half-way through). Miguel is very happy at Novell right now - even if he shuns the the old fractured development environment of a bygone era. May they rest in peace. :p
Disclaimer: I'm a Mac user, and this post was edited on OS X 10.3.8 with FireFox 1.0.1. Oh, and I'm a C#'r that can't wait for VS2005's built in Unit Tests and Refactoring features.
