Jeff (geekswithblogs.com owner/founder), I know your busy with your new baby boy Brandon (congrats; and good luck with the long nights that will begin in a few months) - but I really hope your playing with CS::Blogs (aka .TEXT 2.0). I've heard it's out, and has a handy .TEXT 1.0 upgrade tool.
On Saturday I thought you might have been upgrading to CS::Blogs since geekswithblogs.net was down for about 14hrs. I was chomping at the bit to see what happened... fingers crossed. After it came back up, I was disapointed... but I didn't really suspect you would spring an upgrade on us. Either way, I watched your blog to see what happened. All you said was that 1000s of comment spam messages flooded the server. Was that it?
I can't wait to kick the tires of CS::Blogs. I've got all sorts of neat ideas that involve making a WinForms 2.0 app to create and store a backup copy of my stuff... and then syncs via ws back to CS::Blogs (at one or multiple locations). Or maybe an VSTO app that runs in Outlook 2003 and Entourage 2004 that does something similar: client side post creation (eg. non-browser) and storage.
Yeah, I remember you said that geekswithblogs is a highly customized version of .TEXT; I have no idea what those changes were specifically - or what they were. However if you need any help migrating to CS::Blogs, I would gladly volunteer. I feel like I owe you something for letting me on the site.
PS. I've been working with C# and ASP.NET since 1.0b2... I'm working on my MCSD now, and have an old MCSE from my admin days. Translation: Not a newbie. ;)
