I don't think I've seen him this pissed. Apparently a marketing droid cold called him about a site they were working on... here is what they were pitching (well actually they had already done it - probably at a cost in excess of $100k):
- Fake Site, no real people... all fake
- No RSS, "this site is for non geeks."
- No downloads, except for videos of actors
- No interactivity (I'm guessing no message boards)
- All fake content, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week; no real people, no real point
At one point Scoble quips regarding a recent benefits change for Redmond campus workers:
(ahh, that's where our towel money went)
In fact it pissed him off so much, he stopped blogging this weekend right after he posted his rant. Personally, Robert I think you could replace half the marketing department by yourself and Microsoft would be a lot better off. Heh, maybe they could even give you guys your fresh, clean towels back.
