Busy, busy, busy... with a rainbow?

The day started with a simple trip to my dealer to drop my car off for its 20K maintenance ($211) that ended up taking 45minutes out of my day due to really bad traffic. It only got worse when I got to work, and discovered three important things.

  1. The conference room had not been secured for the user group meeting I was hosting to update the customer on the status of my application, show off the new stuff, and report what will be missing from the app at deployment.
  2. All three SharePoint 2003 portals that I am responsible for (duty as assigned that I created for myself) were down. AppPool was stopped, and all sites were stopped in IIS. SPS was belching errors in the event log.
  3. Oh, the staff meeting was in 10 minutes - and we use the portal to organize the agenda.

By the end of the day I had fixed all three portals and organized assistance to migrate most of the data from our old WSS site to SPS. Although I had to change conference rooms three times... at the last second, the users got their meeting and seemed to accept the loss of their killer feature (reporting) for the 1.0 release (though 1.1 in two weeks will have it - in SQL Reporting Services no less). Finally our staff meeting went off well, and I was congratulated for my professional manner (though I suspect that was more because I wore a tie today (for the users). Finally, I released RC2... and passed off the ~30 updated stored procs to the DBA. Done.

But what I'm really thinking about is the cute girl who quickly helped me find a conference room for the user group meeting at the last second. Very cute. I wonder why I haven't seen her before?
