I was clearing out the mail from my .MAC account, and one of the Apple newsletters pointed me to Delicious-Monster.com's Delicious Library. This little app is pretty sweet! It even uses my favorite UI: OS X App with a Brushed-Metal UI.
Supported Libraries: Books, Movies, Music and Games. The movie library shows pictures of your DVDs on a wooden shelf, and there is a slider at the bottom of the window that allows you to select the size of the DVDs. On each shelf is a small label. If you switch to list view, add Genre to the view, and then sort by Genre... those little labels become the genre.
Adding Movies: You can add movies using a Bluetooth handheld scanner, a webcam, or the way I did it - fat finger in the UPC. Plenty of information was autoloaded (obviously via Amazon web services) including:
- Pictures of the DVD covers
- Publisher
- Release Date
- Theatrical Debut
- Genre
- MPAA Rating
- Format (DVD/VHS)
- # of media
- Retail Price
- Current Price
- Stars, Running Time, Creators, Purchase Info (not shown by default)
- Amazon Rating
- Amazon #
- Description
Importing: With the music section I assumed that I could just do an Import from iTunes... but when I selected File | Import | From other applications... I received a friendly popup:
Can't Import There are no other recognizable applications installed to import from.
"Similar": This feature shows links to other DVDs (further info or purchase from Amazon) that are similar to the currently selected movie.
I'm not sure it's worth $40... but it's still a nice app. You can download it here, and I was able to add 5 movies before it didn't seem to take any more.
