Thanksgiving, Pt. 2

That's the best thanksgiving I've had in a long, long time. As I've said before, it's been 14 years since the last time I spent it with my parents. My son was upset he wasn't there: "Daddy, you went without me? [pleading]." He was with his mom and her family, but just how do you answer that question?

Anyway, I convinced my family to play Settlers of Cattan (well the travel edition anyway) on Thanksgiving. I'm not sure it was a big hit, but they had fun. Friday night we played Boomtown (the new one from Face2Face)... we started playing it all wrong by bidding for every card every round. This made the game a lot slower. Once we figured out that you were bidding for first pick, and then everyone else fell in line... the game moved much faster. My Dad won with 132 gold. We followed up that with Tripoly (a favorite of my mother... which I have to admit was much more fun that I expected. Certainly it doesn't even compare to Puerto Rico, Settlers or Goldbrau... but it's better than regular poker.

Hoping my brother's install of SP2 goes alright without me there... but at least windows auto-update is turned on... and I ran both Ad-aware and Spybot on his machine. Unfortunately, I forgot to tell him to disable his McAffee prior to installing SP2. Also, I imagine the firewall will be a bit of a shock at first.
