If you are tired (like me) from writing XAML code by hand you don't have to wait until Microsoft will release it's own designers. There are already a few solutions out from various companies:

  • Aurora from Mobiform is one of my favorites. Aurora offers two ways to work. A designer integrated into Visual Studio, or as a stand-alone application. Aurora is very easy to use and after just a few minutes of playing with it, you will get the idea. You can use it to create graphics as well as controls and I just hpe that animation support will come in the future.

  • ZAM3D from Electric Rain is a much more powerful application, but also much more complicated to use. If you have a previews experience creating 3D designs and animations you will love this one.

Note that all the products are still in Beta form, and should not be installed on a production environment. After playing with them you will also note some bugs. I recommend checking the products web sites for updates and future releases.

If you know any other XAML designers or exporters, please let me know about it.

We are working on a project which depends on a subset of XAML schema (some kind of customized mini-XAML) and would like to use a XAML designer. Do these tools can work on a customized XAML schema?
