A Good Larry Ellison Ego Story
I just read D'Arcy's post about books and the one on Larry Ellison reminded me of a story I heard about 10 years ago. I was working with the son of an Oracle VP. He told us about the time his dad and Larry went to Dell. I believe it was Dell, may have been one of the other big computer guys. We'll go with Dell. Remember, this was 10 years ago. Anyway, when Larry and his dad arrived Michael Dell was in the bathroom, so they had to wait a total of 3 minutes. When Michael showed up, Larry was pissed, ......

Top 5 Ways How Harry Potter Will NOT End
5 - George Bush sends in troops to occupy Hogwart's until Voldemort is found causing a never ending wave of Death Eater attacks. 4 - Harry becomes a Death Eater and kills all of his friends except Hermione. They have twins, a boy and a girl. The boy grows up to show Harry the error of his ways. Voldemort is killed in the middle of their amazing wizard duel. 3 - During the final battle with Voldemort a vortex in time is opened up that allows Harry to save his parents and put everything right. This ......

Harry Potter - For Non-Fans
We took our kids to see the latest Harry Potter movie, and as I expected, I was bored. I enjoyed the first movie, but every movie (and book) since then has just been more of the same. Harry has some trouble over the summer, they go back to school and get in some trouble, then fight Voldemort. I'd go with the argument that this story is for kids, but my kids are also bored. I'm planning on reading the last book when it releases just because it ends. That will become the first Harry Potter book I have ......

Live Search 2.0 Released
I'm in a mobile mood this week. Must be because of all the iPhone hype. Microsoft has released version 2.0 of Live Search. If you have a Windows Mobile phone and you don't have this app, you are really missing out. It's the best way to lookup driving directions and contact information. The new version makes it easy to find movie times and locations along with ratings. For a full description, here is the Virtual Earth / Live Maps blog post. You can download the application to your phone from ......

Verizon and Windows Mobile 6 - Part 2
Yesterday morning I posted about Verizon's lack of Windows Mobile 6, and yesterday afternoon, Engadget releases some dirt on Verizon's release of the Samsung SCH-i760, likely this month or next. Just a rumor, but that's a cool phone. Consider this my official complaint about no mention of the 2nd generation Zune. Okay, Microsoft, let's see an announcement this afternoon ......

Verizon and Windows Mobile 6
The Blame Game So I have been waiting to find out if my Motorola Q is going to be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6, or if I will be stuck buying a new phone. When Microsoft released version 6 back in February, they made an announcement that phone carriers would get the software free of charge if they agreed to upgrade version 5 phones for existing customers. That was the first time there was a glimmer of hope for us. I can't remember any time in the past that you could upgrade your phone. Wireless phone ......

Reminds me of the Microsoft Surface parody commercial. (Some bad language.)

Stupid is ...

Just overheard this at work and I had to share:

Guy 1 - Have you ever heard of a game called Fairy Meat?

Guy 2 - No.

Guy 1 - Neither have I.

The iPhone and Apple Fanboy Logic
Jim Lynch provides 9 very good reasons not to by an iPhone: Too Expensive Tiny Storage Stylish and Stupid Stuck with AT&T Edge and Not 3G No Flash or Java Support Two Year Contract and $175 Termination Fee No Keyboard Crapfari Instead of Firefox Those are all valid. When you think about the iPhone, what you are getting is a shiny interface, cool factor, a widescreen iPod (arguably the single reason to buy one), and one device instead of two if you are an iPod owner. What Jim forgot is battery ......

The 7 Most Useless Transformers Ever
This post from CRACKED is great. Not only does it list some truly useless Transformers, proving Hasbro was trying to make every dime off kids it possible could, but it does it with style. Here is an example: You stop liking/fearing/respecting Soundwave, however, when you realize that he uses all of his robot powers for the sole purpose of spying on his fellow Decepticons to detect mutiny. Seriously, he quietly hangs around his evil pals, waits for them to take issue with one of Megatron's orders ......
