You Picked The Wrong Pocket Buddy
A few years ago I was walking through our local mall on a weekday afternoon when I almost had my pocket picked. A group of teenagers positioned themselves near the food court so you had to walk through them, then one of them would snatch your wallet and run while the others made a wall. One of them tried to grab my wallet, which should have been easy to do wearing suit pants, but it had a button, and no dice. The kid ran off with nothing. The amazing gall of these kids is that they didn't even bother ......

Evolution of the OK Button
I noticed the last button looks terrible on an analog monitor but fine on a digital display. That's probably the graphics fault from the source PDF not WPF. But oh the irony. The image was extracted from the cover sheet of Building Line of Business Applications with Windows Presentation Foundation ......

Linspire + Microsoft = Love
Is Linspire getting desperate? They just struck a deal with Microsoft to license code for Windows Live Messenger, Windows Media, and TrueType fonts. Okay, that seems like a good thing. But they agreed to make Live Search the default on their Linux based OS! Linspire has always billed itself as the super easy Linux distro for everyone. I guess they are going to find out if they can make in the mainstream market, because I just think they alienated a lot of Linux geeks, assuming they had some left. ......

Download Squad's Missing Firefox Article
I was checking Google Reader this morning when I came across a post by Download Squad entitled Firefox's popularity is repeating Microsoft's dominating mistakes all over again. But when I click through the link all I get is a single comment: "I don't even know where to begin on a rebuttal for this one..." Did Download Squad get a bunch of backlash and take it down? Or is this just a temporary bug? If anyone else has the full article in their feed reader or browser cache, please post the content in ......

Zune for Dummies
I don't plan on buying a copy of Zune for Dummies because I doubt it has much value to someone who already knows how to get videos and podcasts on the device. The rest of the book looks like basic usage instructions. But I also realize I am not the target market for the book. One big problem I have always had when trying to suggest the Zune over the iPod to anyone is ease of use. iTunes is one nice, neat little package where you can get all of your content. If you can point and click and plug an ......

Safari on Windows is Junk
I have been trying out Safari on Windows and so far the experience has been miserable. But let me start with the good points. User interface is nice and clean. I can test web sites I am working on without borrowing my wife's MacBook. Now for the bad. Slower to load pages than Firefox or IE even though Apple claims it's faster. Bookmark import from Firefox didn't work. When I maximize the browser on then second display of my dual display the browser completely disappears to somewhere on a phantom ......

The Abduction Lamp
It's a prototype, but hopefully The Abduction Lamp will make it to production. Available with different aliens, a cow, a human and pulsating beams. Too bad it isn't available in time for Father's Day ......
