TV on Zune, A Plea to Microsoft

Dear Microsoft,

I understand that you are trying to go for a unified interface for the Zune just like iTunes.  But would it kill you to add support for TV shows recorded by Windows Media Center so we don't have to do things like this?

In the short term:

Please add .dvr-ms support in the next minor Zune software update.  It's not that hard and I'm not asking for anything special.  Just have them show up under videos.

In the long term:

Please add a TV section to compliment Music, Videos, Podcasts (you know you want to), and Pictures.  This section needs full integration with Windows Media Center and Xbox 360 video downloads.  And don't cheap out.  Give us an unlimited add-on for movies and TV to our Zune Pass.

Readers:

Leave a comment if you want to see these features, or if this would help convince you to buy a Zune.

I absolutely agree with you. It doesn't seem right that I have to set up dCut and do some batch job workaround in order to get recorded TV to work on the Zune. Everything works great on my Windows Mobile phone as far as sync'ing TV, why not on the Zune?

Media Center and the Zune are two products that compliment each other perfectly. A perfect world would be the development of Softsled (software based extender) for either the Zune or UMPC and we can then enjoy live TV or any media from the Media Center box.

# A Plea to Microsoft - Media Center and Zune

Scott Kuhl makes an excellent point about the Zune. For some reason Microsoft did not provide the capability for the Zune to sync with Media Center and have recorded TV automatically placed on their Z ...

Agree 100% on wanting to see TV/movie and podcast support for the Zune.

If they added an unlimited TV/video download capability to ZunePass, I'd seriously consider subscribing.
