PDC05: Why force FrontPage?
Fitz alleviates some of our fears about FrontPage in his posting Ghosting Schmosting. While it is great that Microsoft has addressed most if not all of the problems associated with using FrontPage with SharePoint technologies I still have to question this Microsoft Office love affair with FrontPage. Microsoft has this grea This post has moved permanently to http://bargelt.com/pdc05-wh... ......

PDC05: "The Goods" Part Two
As you may have read in my Keynote 03 posting – we received DVD 06 that contains Windows Server Codename Longhorn CTP:PDC05. What I neglected to mention is that we also received a double DVD case that contains Visual Studio 2005 Release Candidate (two DVDs inside… DVD = 1 Visual Studio 2005 team Suite Release Candidate. PDC05: Keynote 3: Bob Muglia and Servers
The opening video was awesome. Microsoft UK put together a gag video about a new feature that lets end users “share the pain” with the developer who caused the pain. It was great… on the client computer a dialog popped up when the program crashed, similar to the real “report and error dialog” but in this enhanced version there is a live audio/video feed of the developer who wrote the code that cau This post has moved permanently to http://bargelt.com/pdc05-ke... ......

PDC05: Installing Vista. Frustrating.

The main reason I lugged my heavy Dell 8600 with me was so I could install some of the new cool software that I knew we would receive in a VM… my Dell is beefy enough to have a couple VMs running and still seem snappy.

PDC05: "The Goods"
Yesterday we received an really cool little DVD portfolio with over 30GB of software on 6 DVDs. Impressive but also a bit disappointing. Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 which I’m pretty sure in available via MSDN – the MSDN download site is currently unavailable or I would verify this fact. Here’s the full list of software in the package: This post has moved permanently to http://bargelt.com/pdc05-th... ......

PDC05: 9/13 Keynotes

I gotta say this first: The BillG video with Napoleon Dynamite was awesome. It was so good that even after all of the cool announcements I was wishing that there would have been one more video break with our buddy Napoleon. No? FINE! IDIOTS!

PDC: Early 9/13
I made it to the convention center pretty early this morning. I didn’t want to fight the geeks for breakfast. I got done so early the doors to the keynote hall were not open when (after walking for about a mile inside eh convention center, I swear) I arrived. there were at least 500 people waiting though so I can only summize that there is a fair amount of buzz about the impending announcements.p> This post has moved permanently to http://bargelt.com/pdc-earl... ......

Off to PDC in LA

I’m heading to LA tomorrow to get a jump-start on PDC. We decided that we could not travel on Sunday since it is the first full day of football season. We plan on dawning our jerseys, finding a good sports bar and sitting there all day.

Back on the street bike
Greetings! It was a tough decision but I have moved my blog to bargelt.com. Thanks for visiting! Thanks to my neighbor, Rob I am back on my street bike. Damn it hurts so good. I have a 1984 Trek 610 that Rob put a few hours of work and $150 worth of parts into - now it is a pretty descent ride... Rob and I did 19 miles last night (9/3)... and 15 on Tuesday (8/30). Just 34 miles in the saddle - I think I'm catching the bug again! Alexi Grewal had a lot to do with my biking bug the first time around ......
