Hanging out with Victoria.NET Developer Association
Our complete launch team is now in Victoria! It’s quite a bit of a change going from -15 degrees in Edmonton to +12 in Victoria, but we will handle it J I just learned that IT industry is second biggest industry in Victoria! The .net user group there is following that growth as well. We had a chance to hang out with the key members of the developer community in Victoria tonight. I got to see a few MVPs from the area who are now involved with the group. Most importantly, attendees got a chance ......

Edmonton Launch Event
3….2……1&#... event is a go too! Great turnout and a shipping hiccup in the morning….. Attendees started pouring in as early as 7 am this morning as the event staff was having breakfast. I am estimating some 500 people in attendance right now. A few of the demo machines didn’t arrive in time for the event this morning. So we already started executing our backup plan, when the boxes showed up about 15 minutes ago. Luckily enough, these are the boxes we are going ......

Getting ready for Edmonton launch event…..
The whole team arrived to Edmonton today. We have our (launch) veterans Jerome and John in the city and our RD Joel Semeniuk as well. We are READY to go. We held a VIP reception with the Edmonton .NET Wizards user group in a local café as well. We had some 15 key user group members come out for the event. Blake McNeill, security MVP, drove all the way from Calgary to join us at the VIP reception and to help out at the event. Here is one random shot of the guys who showed up at the event. See ......

On the way to Ottawa launch event....
So, I have been slacking off on my blog…and I had so many things to blog about. Dave, Jeff and Jennifer and I are catching the same floght to Ottawa. We are stuck on the airport, there is a severe thunderstorm in Toronto now. Yesterday we launched VS 2005, SQL 2005 & BIZTALK 2006 in Toronto. The best shot of this event is this photo (courtesy of Mark Relph). A few people who went to the San Francisco event the day after claimed our Toronto event was bigger!! The night before the event we ......

Canadian Launch sessions - locked & loaded. November 7th here we come.
Final touch ups to the presentations are done. About a week ago our speakers held a community “dry run” where we presented the launch content to our key community members in GTA. We took a week to incorporate their feedback into presentations. We are READY! As I am typing this blog entry, John Bristowe is uploading the web cast recording of his “design and development” session to the web. VSTS session is next! Jerome Carron is recording the “Web and smart client” ......

Cabanas at Canadian Launch Events
Heads up on the layout of Canadian launch events!! Simultaneously with the developer and it professional tracks, we will have the ‘cabana’ track. Sure enough, it sounds very exotic, but it has nothing to do with pink drinks with nice little umbrellas. But ….developers at PDC and TechEd loved it, so we are bringing them to Canadian launch events. So, what is “Cabana” anyways? For those of us who haven’t been so lucky to be at this year’s PDC or TechEd, cabana ......

Software at the launch events
I received a couple of questions about the version of software we are giving out....I guess I should have been more specific :-) Each attendee will receive a copy of Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition and SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. See you at the launch event ......
