I was trying to install a feature in MOSS 2007 which has got some Telerik controls (RadGrid, RadWindow, RadComboBox, RadUpload and RadAjax) in it.

But after activating the feature which has some  pages which use the SonOfSmartPart to host user controls which contain the Telerik controls, I got this error because of RadGrid:

[Exception: The control must be placed inside a form tag with runat=server.]

Actually I got this error when I started working in MOSS, but I debugged it for some time, then I took an alternative root. But for the feature I am working on, it requires some third party controls like Telerik controls. So I decided to find a solution.

The actual problem seems to be with the default master page in MOSS 2007. I was not able to change it since all the other pages were using the master page. So finally I decided to create new pages where I replaced the SonOfSmartPart with the content of the respective user control (which has the RadGrid and all the other Telerik Controls in it).

Then after normal problems like setting the RadControls Directory, copying the RadControls Directory to the appropriate location, setting the web.config values etc, it Worked!!!

Even though it is not the optimal way to do it, for now I have a solution.

Hi,

I'm trying to use Rad controls with MOSS 2007 and SonofSmartPart.

Could you post the steps you did to use Telerik?
I'm having tough time applying the skins.

Thanks,
Meena.

I am seeking an alternative to Telerik for MOSS; the rad editor is super buggy, and support is non-existent which you would expect for a "freeware" component, not an expensive purchase like the RadControls. Yes, I have the latest updated version. It still has problems with image mapping, format stripping, table formatting, fonts within tables, random menu disappearing.

Anybody have any alternative editors to suggest?
