Yes this might be a bit late seeing as so many are moving on to the .NET 3.0 and playing around with the fancy Orca CTPs that keep coming out.
But for me I can still make use of the samples for Base classes and Data Access. Plus they have samples for the Compact Framework, Tablet PC, and Visual Studio Tools for Office.
