Last year at this time I was doing some pretty interesting things while I was away on military leave. One of the best things I got to do was try out the Mark 19, the .50 Caliber, the M240B (the M240 Bravo), and the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon. This was probably the highlight of the time I was away from home. I also was able to hang out with some friends that have some hand guns and fire the glock and the beretta, the weapon that the military calls the M9.
This is me headed out to the range. You can see the seriousness on my face, the look of someone who is ready to take out the enemy. <grins>
Firing the .50 Cal was a blast. I have a picture of it in the hands of my squad below. Of course this is NOT the recommended way to fire it, it's a bit much for the guy holding it. Plus it gets a little warm up there. <grins>
The Barrett M107 .50 Caliber Sniper Rifle is something I don't think I ever want to be on the receiving end of. Check this thing out in the video below.
This is the Mark 19. This thing has some big rounds as you might be able to tell from the casings below the weapon below. This doesn't fire at the same sustained rate that the .50 Cal can and doesn't produce the same deafening sound.
This is me and my friend the M249 SAW out in the field after a full night of walking with him and about 40lbs of gear (about 10 miles and then a couple more up the side of these "hills").
