code fondness and jumping to the other side

I am currently not very tied up at work. After pushing the release "over the wall" post-sales support team head's words... not mine I have been enjoying a few days of not much work. A little testing here and there to make usre that everything is as is needed and wanted and fixing a few bugs. I am in a big quandry right now though. I would like to go out to the client site for the install along with the consultant guide. I fear two things, a) that the consultants are going to smirk at me (this I can handle) and b) I may be getting too attached to this piece of code (is this even a real problem?).

I was hoping to solicit proposals from y'all about how to go about requesting permission to go to the client site during install and also how you I can separate myself from my code.

Thanks in advance.

Gravatar You can request permission from the install as a means of gathering feedback to see firsthand the problems and issues users have installing your software "in the wild".

I would suggest you separate yourself from the code by keeping an open mind. Challenge yourself to find a better method of doing things even if it means rewriting/trashing your existing code.
