February Meeting - Thursday, 2/5/2009

Joel Cochran, RV.NUG Member extraordinaire presents, "Going beyond Hello World: Developing real world WPF applications using Blend and Visual Studio."

Summary: The Internet is full of "Hello World" type examples of getting started with WPF, but they hardly teach enough to do anything useful, let alone really cool! WPF and Silverlight represent a sea change in development and design possibilities. In this presentation, you will learn how to use Visual Studio and Blend together to develop meaningful applications, simplify tasks, and add spice to your GUI software.

March Code Camp!!

March 7th, 2009. Mark your calendars now! Registration begins early 2009.

Please note there will be no meeting on March 5th, because of the Code Camp.

Hi Robin,
I am from the Charlottesville / Richmond areas. I have presented at both Richmond and Raleigh code camps. I have a suggestion for user group presentation or even the upcoming code camp if you need presenters.

I have been working with Microsoft Sync Runtime for ADO.net on a recent project. I though perhaps a presentation might be of interest to the community at large.

Here is an abstact and bio.
Bio:
Craig Adams has been developing business software for over 20 years. Specializing in Smart Client applications, Craig has worked with .NET since its first release in 2002. As a Senior Consultant and Principal of Vivus Software, he has gained valuable experience in applying Microsoft technology to the challenges of everyday business needs.

Abstract:
"Introduction to the Microsoft Synchronization Services for ADO.NET"
This is an introduction to Microsoft Synchronization Services for ADO.net using SQL Server Compact Edition (desktop) and SQL Server 2005. Topics include: download only synching, bi-direction syncing, and conflict resolution.

Level: 100

Thanks,
Craig Adams
