Code Camps
If you have been around me more than two minutes in the past month, you’ve probably heard me mention the Roanoke Code Camp 2008 which is on March 1st at Virginia Western Community College. Why do I think this is such a big deal? Two things: FREE top-notch technology event and WESTERN Virginia
What you will see at Code Camp
·         A conference-style event with multiple tracks allowing you to choose from five sessions during each time slot (Attend a session in the morning on a new 3.5 .NET Framework technology and then attend a session on gaming or SharePoint in the afternoon) View the schedule
·         Knowledgeable and passionate presenters (Book authors, Microsoft MVPs and RV.NUG members)
·         Sessions for all levels of expertise (100-300 level sessions along with some session for the business users of SharePoint)
·         Breakfast and lunch and networking (Talk with other attendees and the speakers)
·         Great giveaways at the end of the day (PSP, iPod, Telerik licenses, Microsoft software and more)
Behind the scenes (how it happens and why it’s free)
·         Speakers working on presentations simply because they love to learn and love to share (All volunteers)
·         Contributors providing everything: venue, food, giveaways, printing and much more (Without us providing them a mailing list – your email address is not shared with anyone)
·         RV.NUG members volunteering (Recruiting contributors and speakers, preparing the schedule, working with registration)
Beyond the event:
We all know there are many events held that we would like to attend, but these events are often a three hour drive and during the week. Every event that has been hosted in Roanoke, by both the RV.NUG and Microsoft, has had over 85% of those registered attend the event. Support of events such as Code Camp is noticed by Microsoft and other vendors. If you want to see more technology events in western Virginia, show it by attending Roanoke Code Camp 2008! Register NOW!
SPECIAL THANKS TO Virginia Western Community College for providing the venue again this year!
