SharePoint - Edit Word Document - Will not open
Seems that the issues I was experiencing with the Word 2007 Addins and/or the LaserFiche "send to Word" had been the cause of some problems in SharePoint.  When I tried to Edit a Word document - nothing happened.  Literally nothing. Once I corrected the problems with the mouse not responding (see recent posts on this), I was able to edit a Word document once again.

Word 2007 - Mouse Not Responding - Part 2

Turns out my problem was due to LaserFiche.  Running LaserFiche 7.2 the "Send to Word" functionality was preventing the mouse from responding within a Word document.  Funny thing, it had happened in previous versions of Word also.

If you are a LaserFiche user you need to apply HotFix SCR28596, Knowledge Article 1011746.

Refer to Part 1 on July 30, 2007.

Word 2007 - Mouse not responding in document
When I open a document in Word 2007, the mouse works to click any items in the ribbon but when I try to use the mouse within the document it does not seem to be recognized. I can NOT select text, click to a different location within the document or right click and use the context menu. Some research seems to point to add-ins. I can correct the problem by starting Word from a command prompt without add-ins C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\winword.exe /a So now to correct the problem. Research ......

MSDN: Online Concierge - 5 Stars
Today I decided to upgrade from Office 2003 to Office 2007 (using my MSDN subscription). I used the DVD, signed onto the MSDN Web site, requested a Product Key and was off. Except... I had an invalid product key. I had just renewed my subscription at the beginning of the month, so I wasn't sure what to try next. I tried the MSDN Online Concierge. Fully expecting to not get an answer, I entered my question. Error message: "Please enter a subject or question in English." GREAT - I was typing in English. ......

Cannot set SMO reference
SUMMARY VERSION I recently discovered two things while working with SMO in a Web application. If SQL Server is not installed on the production Web server, you can copy the SMO assemblies to the /bin folder of the Web application and set the refrences to that location (instead of the GAC for a machine that has SQL Server Tools installed). Sometimes assemblies can disappear from the GAC. If your SMO assemblies disappear you need to reinstall the Sql Server SDK (the physical location is C:\Program Files\Microsoft ......

It's only a root canal
Two weeks ago, I started with a headache on a Friday evening. By Monday morning it was obvious this was the result of a tooth. I get an emergency dentist appointment and he determines I need a root canal. I've never had one; but it doesn't sound fun. He tells me he will do the preliminary work now and schedule me an appointment with an endodontist. Today is my root canal. Being new at this I called the office yesterday to see if I need to do anything - arrange a ride etc. "Hello, Dr. Torture's office, ......
