Trying to extract a zipped file that spanned multiple files (MyFile.zip, MyFile.z01, MyFile.z02 etc...) I received the following error:

“Some data in your Zip file is damaged - CRC check failed”

The detailed message reads:

Extracting to "E:\Download\"

Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no

Extracting xxxx.iso

CRC check failed

After some googling... Use Win Zip 9.1 OR Use Zip Genius (free)

Since I was already using Win Zip 10 (and a colleague had tried using the Windows XP Zip utility and received the same error message)  - I opted for Zip Genius.  The extract was performed without error.

DILEMMA:  Is it possible the extract will work with Win Zip 9.1 and not Win Zip 10?  Should I install Win Zip 9.1 and give it a try? (I didn't find a download in a 2-second view of the Win Zip Web site, otherwise I might have already tried this).  I do not know what program was used to zip the file in the first place.  Maybe I'll just stick with Zip Genius for a while and see how it goes.

Dude...your blog ROCKS! I have been wanting a ZIP tool for my new laptop and haven't gotten around to getting one. Thanks! Also, I installed the IEDevToolbar...I look forward to some of those cool features.
