Themes & Theme Quirks in ASP.NET 2.0
Did some research to do a quick presentation on Themes (skin & css files) in ASP.NET 2.0. Still trying to decide when it's best to use skin files over css files. Already figured out that an object property should not belong to both. Tested some, and haven't been able to receive consistent results. Is it because... 1. Caching - How does the ASP.NET Developer server work?2. When using multiple css / skin file- Are they always applied in the same sequence3. ???? who knows ???? I seem to experience ......

ASP.NET Club Site Starter Kit - Can't Save Project
Decided to install the Club Starter Kit to 1) get a better website for a .NET UG up and running quickly 2) review some sample code. Anything that I attempt to do quickly, never goes quickly. Downloaded the template, installed it, created a new web site, selected the Club starter template, ran the solution - all is great. Made a couple of minor changes then clicked “Save All” No matter what I do, I cannot get the solution to save. I receive the following error: Error Message: The Operation ......

Business Modeling is geeky
Six months ago I worked on a business model of a department that everyone (including the department) KNEW had not just one, but multiple complex business processes due to following legal constraints. Diving in, I quickly agreed it was complex. I was using Visio UML Activity to document the process. Spent many hours on it, but did not finish the model of even the first process. Typical. Now for the un-typical. Two days ago I picked up the unfinished model and found it to be 90% complete. (Isn't everything ......

Visual Web Developer Express - Install Problem
I've been installing Visual Web Developer Express on several machines of late. (I've convinced several new to .NET to download and install this product and start learning before the free offer expires). Everything is going along fine and I receive the following error on one machine: "BITS Service must be enabled before you start the installation process. Enable the BITS service and run setup again" Deciding I should become more confident in troubleshooting strange messages I begin to think of what ......

SharePoint V3 Info from the ASP.NET Team
Tom Rizzo has moved from the SQL product team to the SharePoint product team, and I have been following his blog here But here is an entry from Scott Guthrie's blog (ASP.NET product team) that sounds like really good news for developers using the next release of SharePoint (due out 4th quarter 2006??). I was able to attend a couple of Scott's and a couple of Tom's presentations at Dev Connections last month; both of them were some of the favorite conference sessions. I'll definitely be watching Tom ......

Win Zip - Split Files
Trying to extract a zipped file that spanned multiple files (MyFile.zip, MyFile.z01, MyFile.z02 etc...) I received the following error: “Some data in your Zip file is damaged - CRC check failed” The detailed message reads: Extracting to "E:\Download\" Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no Extracting xxxx.iso CRC check failed After some googling... Use Win Zip 9.1 OR Use Zip Genius (free) Since I was already using Win Zip 10 (and a colleague had tried using the Windows XP Zip utility and received ......
