SSIS - SQL Server coolness for developers

I have recently had the opportunity to attend some SSIS training / workshops led by our DBA.  Learning more about SQL Server has been on my list of TODO's for a long long time, but something better always came up (with more coding).  But I have to say, I have been impressed with the functionality I have seen provided by Sql Server Integration Services.  It is logical, there is coding, and you develop (yes, I said develop) using the Visual Studio IDE.  It is one of the Business Intelligence project templates and you can import / transport / export any type of data - it does not have to be in a SQL database (ever).

There are many free downloads to learn more here.  I have personally used this one and found it quite informative.  There was no time spent using proper naming and most of the lab ran without errors. There were a couple of hiccups, but hey, it let me start seeing that you can debug in SSIS.

Don't tell him, but the DBA showed me some pretty cool stuff.
