O.k.--first I have to admit, I'm rather new to this whole “Blog” thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a neophyte in terms of the internet, its just that I never took the time to make a blog. Silly me.
I'm afraid this will be the dreaded, “getting to know you” initial post that I think all bloggers are required to write. So, who am I?
I started programming back in the early 90's. At first it was just using qbasic and wordperfect scripts, but that advanced into access (ugh). I've been involved with “online” stuff since I was 16 (1989) when I was a user of CI$. I've been chatting since then, so if my acronyms seem a bit dated, that's why.
I've used all of the following technologies:
- SqlServer 6.5 (or was it 6.0??) to 2005
- ASP from the beginning
- NT4.0 to 2003 Server
- VB3 to VB6
- VB.NET
- C#
- Java (which I HATE!!!!!)
- a bunch of scripting stuff (i.e. javascript, vbscript, etc).
- RPG (I'm not proud of it, but yes, I wrote something in it)
- Visual RPG (looked like VB3--it was aweful!)
- Turbo Pascal
- Vax Pascal
- and a bunch of other various asundry technologies.
I've worked in three main industries, Telecommunications, State Government (education), and Real Estate, and am currently working with a small company.
The purpose of this blog is to document the struggles I'm going through. We're in a highly competive environment, so I'll have to be careful not to give away too much, but it could be interesting to document the troubles we're having. If nothing else, it'll give me a chance to vent!
