Watching Star Wars For the First Time
An interesting story from EW where they found some guy who has apparently living in a hole and who had never seen any of the Star Wars movies. Ever. Anyway, he sits down and watches the Star Wars saga for the first time. The interesting thing is that he watches the movies in the order in which George Lucas says they should be watched, that is, chronologically. I've thought about this before, and I believe that this is the wrong way to watch the movies. In my opinion they should be viewed in the order ......

Project Blackbox/Orangebox
Project blackbox is a cool idea from Sun; it's a very easy way to get a whole bunch of computing power at your fingertips in a really short period of time. The whole concept of fitting everything into a standard cargo container is ingenious. That way you can leverage the existing shipping and transportation infrastructure to move a blackbox around for you. No special trucks needed, neither are there a ton of boxes to be delivered, unpacked, wired up, tested etc. All you need on the ground is water, ......

Body Worlds in Vancouver
The Body Worlds 3 exhibit is here in Vancouver until January 2007 at Science World or World Of Science or big silver golf ball or whatever they're calling it nowadays. I remember seeing exhibits by Dr. Gunther von Hagens on TV a long time ago, probably on one of those "Believe it or Not" type shows. I thought it was really cool, if a little creepy then, I guess I'm going to find out. We really want to go see this exhibit, it should be awesome. I'm not so sure however about what this volunteers link ......

The Dead Sea Scrolls and King Tutankhamun
We're definitely going to make a trip down the coast to Seattle this year to see the Dead Sea Scrolls before they get packed up and shipped back to Israel. For anyone in the area, it's probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. Where: Pacific Science Center, Seattle, WAWhen: Sept 23 2006 - January 7, 2007 And speaking of once in a lifetime museum exhibits, the King Tut exhibit is currently in Chicago and will be in Philadelphia in 2007 and London in 2008 before probably returning to Egypt. Hmmm. ......

More from Micorsoft Research
This clip is just too awesome. I hate having to move from the keyboard to the mouse and back again, usually when dealing with programs with poor UI and no keyboard shortcuts. Although the mouse is more intuitive than the keyboard for most people and allows us to not have to remember all of those hotkeys. With systems like this, you can easily have mouse-like functionality without the mouse, and hardly have to move your hands away from the keyboard at all. Very Minority Report. Check out the full ......

Vancouver Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival
I have been fairly busy for the past week, spending most of the time playing tourist and showing my parents around the city. Always fun and we got to see some new places and restaurants we never went to before. So, I'm a bit late posting this but the Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival is still on until Sunday. We were thinking of attending this event, provided we're not too tired to get out of bed on time. It sounds like a fun time, check it out if you're so inclined. Bruce Eriksen Heritage ......
