I've been getting a good deal of traffic over on the original Gmail Problems post so here's an update for all the people looking for answers out there.

Things have been working fairly well for me over the past week or so but there have been reports of people who could not connect for days. Mostly the issues seem to be transient and trying again in 15 minutes seems to do the trick.

There does however seem to be a lack of “official” news from Google. Are there any Google bloggers out there who might want to shed some light on the issues? Does anyone know?

Down for days at a time. Where can we find answers? What does google have to say? Why the big mystery?

Hi all.

It seems that most of the issues being reported lately are either with the system being unavailable or with an actual error message. If the system appears unavailable, it usually comes back within an hour, so I guess it's just wait and try again later...

If you're getting an error message like the "Oops.." error or the "Waiting" message which does not go away, I'd suggest trying the Gmail troubleshooting list here:

Most of the solutions are along the lines of clear your cache a few times and try again. Hope that helps...

I have been having a problem with Gmail as of late. I go to gmail.com, and when I enter my user name and password, it allows me to hit okay, then when i have my sound on I hear the clicking sound from IE8 that is telling me that I am surfing to a new page, and the titlebar displays Redirecting, it loops continuously and will not show an error, is this new to you? I hope not, I need some help, thinking of downloading firefox again to see if its a problem with my browser.

As a side note, I went to use another computer which had IE6 installed and I was able to log in and check my mail.

Thinking of going with Windows Mail and just eliminating the entire webmail process altogether, because I am satisfied with my browser and have an older computer so Firefox loads slowly as compared to IE8.
