I've have a few posts in the bag related to the Portland Code Camp, so here you go.

Day -1

Last week we headed down the coast toward the Portland Code Camp, Version 1.0. Our first stop was Seattle, a city that neither Erika nor myself had ever been to. I had passed through it once, but that didn't really count. We headed downtown and parked the car and walked around for a while. I guess like most tourists we ended up at Pike Place Market. We walked around and checked out the sights. We didn't see any flying fish but there were so many tourists hanging around with their cameras waiting for one to be thrown that we didn't stay for long. It was way too crowded.

We picked up a few things at a Latin store and had a light lunch of clam and seafood chowder. Excellent stuff. We then headed out over the bridge to Bellevue and checked into our hotel. We then headed up the road to Kirkland and met up with Robert Scoble and family for dinner.

We had a very fun time (thanks again guys!) and the food was great. After dinner we got a coffee at the Triple J Café and sat down to enjoy some live music in the park. What a beautiful setting. The Seattle area is very nice, we really liked it there. We even went back to Kirkland the next morning and had breakfast.

Day 0

We made our way down to Portland the next day, stopping along the way at the obligatory factory outlets. We weren't in a huge hurry anyways. We checked into our hotel and headed downtown to check it out. We didn't really find a place to eat that enticed us, but we did manage to find Powell's Technical books and hung out there for a while looking at books. In the end I only ended up buying a cookbook. Hey, it was on sale for a good price, so why not?

We ended up grabbing dinner near the hotel at one of the numerous taquerias that are all over Portland and crashing early.
