Speaking of Star Wars I just had the biggest You haven't seen Movie X moment. EVER. First, a little history. Maestro, a little back in time music please....
You haven't seen movie X was a term my gang (of science geeks (you got a problem with that?)) coined back in high school. It was a frequently used phrase whenever someone (Mark!) would mention that he never saw a particular movie we were speaking about ex: "You never saw The Godfather?". After a while this phrase was abstracted to "You never saw movie X?" and then onward (as science geeks are known to do) to "You never ate food X" etc. etc...
So, I was just speaking with a coworker about Star Wars Episode III and he mentioned that he didn't really like it that much, the ending was kind of bad etc. I said something about how it fit in very well with Episode IV and then he went kind of blank.
Long story shot, he never saw Episodes 4-6, only 1-3, so he doesn't know about Luke, Leia, Han, badass Darth Vader etc. Of course the ending of Episode III would seem kind of flat. Man. So, he explained a little about the history of the Star Wars franchise, how Lucas only made "Star Wars" at first, thinking that it would be a one off and when it became a success only then did he decide to make Ep 5 & 6 and then later on 1-3. And hence my coworker will be going out to see the original trilogy for the first time. What a unique position to be in, seeing the movies for the first time and having no idea what is going to happen to Vader, the kids, Obi Wan, Yoda etc. I'll have to keeps tabs to see how it all works out...
