Peter Stathakos - Stack Of Toast Microsoft, .NET and Life in General
So my old Palm finally gave up the ghost a while ago and I have been
thinking about a new one in the back of my mind. This time I
definitely want to go with a Pocket PC just for the fact that I can
write my own apps easily in Visual Studio with languages that I
already know. Add to that the fact that I can bring Word and Excel
documents along with me wherever I go, as well as music, videos and
pictures and it's a no brainier. The only issue is what to get.

The other day I saw Bill Hill demonstrate his Dell Pocket PC in this
Channel9 video
and I checked it out.

The Dell Axim X50 looks like a great choice. I'd like the X50v but
we'll see if I can afford it. They both have built in Bluetooth and
802.11b which is great and the expandability using CF and SD media
will let me carry tons of data around as well as (hopefully) be able
to pull pictures from my camera's CF card easily.

I had looked at similar units from HP but the price (at least in Canada)
is nowhere near for the goodies that you get. The comparable HP unit is at least $200 more.

Does anyone have any opinions on a good pocket PC to pick up? Posted on Friday, April 15, 2005 6:34 PM Geek Stuff | Back to top

Dell Axim is one of the best choice you can do... really a complete device with a good support.
