Well, it's official. As of March 14th or so Erika and I will no longer be Montrealers but will instead be Vancouverites!!!

That's right, we're packing up our things and our cat and heading out west. The Pet Shop Boys made me do it with their incessant prodding, I swear.

There are a few reasons for this move but it basically comes down to this. Before we really settle down, buy a house, have kids and all that we really wanted to make sure we're living in the place where we really want to be. In this case it turns out that we'll be better off in Vancouver.

We find Montreal to be:
1. Too cold. The winters last too long and make it hard to enjoy. Summers are great but they're not long enough.
2. Too crazy. Drivers here suck and the city seems to be getting a bit too run down and crowded.
3. Too expensive. Sure real estate in Vancouver is expensive but taxes are more reasonable and the infrastructure is better as well. In Montreal you're paying tons of taxes and the roads are horrible, especially in the spring.
4. Too much in the way of language related politics. Every few years Quebec goes through the language and separation roller coaster. The French keep loosing the referendums and votes but they keep at it and it's a waste of time and money. The amount of money spent on policing the language in Quebec is ridiculous and we're sick of paying for it.

Anyways, we're moving out there sometime in mid March, a new job and apartment are all set. So this space may slow down for a while during the move, but I'll try to keep you all updated along the way.

In the coming months I also hope to be able to meet up with all the west coast bloggers that I didn't get a chance to really talk to very much at Northern Voice like Boris, Darren and of course Scoble. (I'm sure I'm missing all kinds from this list, that's what the Vancouver Weblogger Meetups are for right?)

Currently listening to: Go West - (04:59)
Pet Shop Boys, Gold [Bonus Disc] (1 of 2)

You see? They're at it again... Not. My. Fault.

Thanks Roland, we're really looking forward to the new city.

See you at a blogger meetup in the near future.

Thanks Eric. We're at a good point in our lives and it makes sense to make a change now rather than later on.

Keep up the good writing and I'll keep pointing to you.
