Microsoft Automotive
The future is finally here! Well, almost. Check out these two videos from Channel 9 about the Microsoft Automotive team: Part I Part II This is a group that would be so awesome to work with. The Automotive and the eHome groups are making technology that can and will be used by almost everyone in the near future. Also, check out the promotional videos here. Seeing U2 (almost)
Last week I took the lovely Mrs. Stack of Toast to a show in Laval. See, she's a big U2 fan. Not the hiding-in-the-bushes-of-the... type of “Big Fan” but a big fan nonetheless. So, when I saw that a U2 cover band was going to be playing in our neck of the woods, into the Outlook calendar it went. The place was the Moomba Supper Club in Laval, just north of Montreal. They don't seem to have a web site (too hip to be on the net?), but here's a Google search. Lots ......

Curly Braces for me and you.
The language wars are heating up again. Carl responds to a link to this page: Reasons To Convert From VB.Net To C#. The comments on Carl's blog were fast and furious but I can't really understand the crap that some of the C# people pile upon VB developers. Rory picked up on the thread as well, adding his two cents in his usual humorous way. My point of view falls in line with these two guys; Use the best tool for the job and for your situation! If you're a C++ developer, it's natural to gravitate ......

The Service Cost of Outsourcing
Eric Mack recently blogged about his bad experience with IBM concerning a large purchase on behalf of one of his clients. “Many weeks ago, I set out to order 2 rack-mount serversand 12 high-end ThinkPad laptops from IBM. I will spare you the almostunbelievable details, but I will simply say that it took over 100 communicationswith IBM over a 6-week period to complete the order for just the firsttwo servers. Much to my amazement, no one that I could reach at IBM hadthe "information" (to be extremely ......

Montreal Jazz Festival
Erika and I enjoyed the Montreal Jazz Festival two nights ago, it was a blast. Although it was a cloudy evening it was not too cold and the rain that did fall was bearable. We first checked out Aces of Dixieland, which was a good show. The music was great but the sound sucked, I guess it was the tiny amp and speaker that did it and it was hard to really hear all the instruments or understand the lyrics. The poor guy playing the banjo was really going at it but we could barely hear him and we were ......

Canada Day
Happy Canada Day everyone! The skies just opened up here in Montreal and the rain is coming down but I'm inside working on some C#. I hope the rain doesn't continue throughout the day, we were going to head down to the Old Port and catch the activities going on down there tonight. Plus there's the world's largest jazz festival going on as well... Summer is a great time in Montreal, it's the six months of deep freeze I'm getting tired of. ......
