Some days it's hard to focus, excpecally when the devistation in Sumatra this week make the Iraq war look like a picnic.  So here's a list of charities you can use to help and for those who want to know what happened here's the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) page for this quake.

Hi All,

It is very kind of you people to donate for the tsunami victims but I would like to urge you to consider this.

Please do not donate to American Government aided relief funds (I dont know specific names here). The reason I urge you to comply with this is that historically american government aided funds are driven by american political reason like in the Indian Ocean currently. American government historically enters areas which are inaccessibile at other times with its submarines under the pretext of transportation of goods and takes away the national liberties of the nation making a nation dependent on US. This inturn means that a common american citizen pays for it and the big business benefit from it.

We dont want a world with dependent nations but a world with empowered nations who can protect the democracy of the land and also provide inputs to the world.

Thanks & Regards,
Mitesh Dasani

Mitesh,

Thank you for your thoughts but they seem pretty bias. I'm not sure what submarines and loss of liberty have in common unless the subs are armed and in combat in which case they aren't being used under the pretext of transportation. It's no secret to anyone that any time any nation helps another and is allowed in to areas that were previously restricted that the aiding nation gathers information.

I think it would be an insult to the victims to not give anyway possible. I know that if I was one of them I would want help regardless of political origin or nationality. I wouldn't care if they were doing it for political gain or profit.

You mentioned "We dont want a world with dependent nations..." the fact is that we are all dependant on each other. America is a bit too proud to admit it but the reason we spend so much effort in the politics of Europe is because we are hopelessly dependant upon the economies of those contries. Their problems quickly become our problem which then affects us all.

I think it’s ridiculous! We can go out of our way to help other countries, but what about our country. What about the people that suffers every single day in our country? The suffering they go through. What about our medical? Can you afford to go to the doctor every time something is wrong? Look at how many people die because they can’t afford to get help. What about the diseases that we haven’t found a cure for, because we can’t afford any more research. What about our solders? We can’t use other countries land to stay on. We have to stay on the ships. We have to go out to sea to keep our men certified, so they can fly. They have to do maneuvers every few day and every few days we have to go out to sea just to do them. Let’s help our country! Let’s fight for our country, our people, and our medical. Yeah they need help, so do we. Look at all the disasters that happen here. People die here too every day. People lose their homes and their families, here. The whole world is helping them. What about when we need help. Do you think they would help us, I don’t. Not very many people are happy with our country. I wonder why, I live here and I am not happy with the things we do. We can spend billions of dollars on other countries, but I still struggle every day. I can’t afford to go to the doctor. I have friends that have to spend two hours in line to get food from the food banks. Why because our country doesn’t matter. Why would we take care of our people? We wouldn’t and this just proves it. We’d give anything to look good. Don’t worry your doing a good thing. Just not for our country, or our people. The more we want to give, the more we lose, our social security, and the more we spend in taxes and the more we spend for gas. Enjoy spending your money, its going to a good place I promise. The more we give the more they expect, and more people in my country have to suffer. That makes me sad. So I apologies to people in my country who suffer everyday, Sorry your country doesn’t stand up for you or help you.
