IP-cameras

I thought this would happen a long time ago – but I've only just researched into using it myself.  What am I talking about – as the title says - IP-cameras of course!

Like most IT-bods, I've worked for companies that used expensive coaxial-cameras – for surveillance etc; these cost an arm and a leg however, and hey, now that we're into the 21st century, well, why not use webcams instead!?

We're looking at installing a webcam in our college bar – mostly so that college members can check that it's open (it's run by students – and, while they're not the most reliable, it does keep the cost of a beer down: hey, beer-costs are universally important – esp. for poor students!)  So, anyway, I've been looking to see what's about, and there are plenty of what's called IP-cameras currently on the market – some with motion detectors too (IP-cameras don't need connecting to a PC – Joy of joys!)!

I've got some eBay bids out on a few models – but I'd love to hear any recommendations: preferably before the auctions close!
