Not enough storage is available to complete this operation

This is one error that we keep on encountering every now and then. My initial guess was that it might had something to do with COM+. But when i googled for this ..... i found out it usually happens
......" when the PagedPoolSize is either set too small or when an application does not re-allocate memory correctly"..

Workaround
According to Microsoft help and support:

This problem can be worked around by using the registry editor to zero out the PagedPoolSize parameter.

WARNING: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system- wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of the Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.

This above solution was actually chalked out for Windows NT 3.X and 4.0, and we are facing it with Windows 2000 Servers. I will try to apply this thing to our servers and see if we could get rid of this problem...

till then, stay tuned and keep checking my blog :)

# re: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation

Gravatar I have seen this as wel....I initially receive this when adding a server to the domain or adding local user or local admin group to the server or even changing the server name. i have tested it several times...when another user does the same it will take the config change. it is user specific, profile or has to do with AD account of that user. possible registery that follows the user account. 7/30/2007 5:12 PM | Adrian

Gravatar ok all I downgraded from vist to xp pro and received this message aswell....after reading and talking to some folks I got the problem fixed....

you'll either need to reinstall your os or get partionmagic or equivalent.....

I went with the fresh install of xp...

when your prompted with what disk to install your os on delete all partions....

create a new partion.....(I had a 500gig)
chose to make its atleast 40gigs but I did 100gigs with the 500 gig HD

install your os on the new partion...

once you os is installed get your drivers installed then go to
start>control panel>Admin tools>disk management> you will then see the partion your OS is on and then a space for unpartioned space right click on this and pick to format then to partion

make this partion as big as it will let you the tic go...reboot and you will no longer get the error message ....

hope this helps some folks ....
enjoy ;-) 12/31/2008 4:41 PM | Brad
