SOEUG March and April Meetings

Please join the Southern Ohio Exchange Users Group on March 7, 2007 for a night of presentations highlighting Exchange 2007 and Windows Vista. We will be presenting several technical demonstrations on Exchange 2007 including deployment, operational efficiency and Unified Communications. We will also have some fun and informative Windows Vista technical demonstrations as well.

Please register here so we have an accurate head count for food and drinks.

The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30pm and end around 8:30pm. We will also have some great prizes including full versions of Windows Vista Business Edition.

February Southern Ohio Exchange Users Meeting

Dear Southern Ohio Exchange Users Group -

I am pleased to announce that Microsoft MVP and all around Exchange good-guy Paul Robichaux will be speaking at the February 1st meeting in Mason, Ohio at 6:30pm (Max Technical Training Center). Paul will be addressing Unified Messaging in Exchange 2007. Paul has been actively working with Exchange and a leader in the community for as long as I can remember. Paul is a partner with 3Sharp, author of truckload of books and magazine articles (Windows IT Pro and Outlook and Exchange Administrator) and an Exchange MVP.

Following Paul will be Microsoft's own Matt Hester. We all know Matt, so no more needs to be said here! You can always count on an exciting and informative show from him. We will also have food, drinks and some giveaways to be sure! Please register here so we have an accurate count for food and seats. I hope to see everyone there.

Paul Robichaux to Speak at February SOEUG Meeting

I am pleased to announce that we will be having Paul Robichaux speak at the February meeting of the Southern Ohio Exchange User's Group. The meeting is taking place on February 1st in Mason, Ohio at the new Max Technical Training Center. You can read more about it at the website for the group. Paul is a well-known Exchange MVP, speaker, consultant and author. I will have the registration site up soon for the meeting. Paul will be speaking on the new unified messaging features in Exchange 2007.

SOEUG Meetings 2007

Tentatively scheduled for 2007:

January 11th in Dayton and
February 2nd in Cincinnati.

SOEUG November Meeting Notes

A big thank you to the presenters at the November Southern Ohio Exchange User's Group meeting! Matt Hester from Microsoft presented on Exchange 2007 and Windows Vista. It was great to get some more information on unified messaging which is possibly the most requested topic where Exchange 2007 is concerned. We also heard from Tim Brunner on Symantec's Enterprise Vault product and how it helps medium to large organizations with compliance and retention.

Our next meeting will be in January and you can look here or the website for announcements as soon as I get all of the commitments in. I am hoping to get a couple of Exchange superstars in to speak to the group!

Also, as the RTM for Exchange 2007 draws near (the business launch is on November 30th) remember to sign up for a launch event in a location near you. Check out these links for Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. RTM for Exchange 2007 is rumored to be the first half of December.

I didn't want to announce this previously as I wasn't sure if it was intended to be publicly unleashed yet. However, seeing as how it is advertised in the latest TechNet Flash email newsletter I am sure I can share now! Here is the blurb from the newsletter:

SOEUG in Dayton or Cincinnati?

As I start to ramp up the advertising and collaboration around the Southern Ohio Exchange User's Group I have been approached about an interesting idea. For those unaware of the Southern Ohio geography, Cincinnati anchors the southern border with Kentucky and then approximately 45 minutes north is the smaller city of Dayton. The space between Dayton and Cincinnati has almost been completely developed, and some suggest Dayton could just be a suburb of Cincinnati someday.

The Microsoft offices were we meet are located in Mason, Ohio on Cincinnati's northern border. It is only slightly closer to Cincinnati than it is to Dayton.

The response and membership in the user group has been much greater from residents of Dayton than from residents of Cincinnati. I have been asked by a few people about moving the group\meetings to Dayton. I thought about alternating them, but I have a feeling that when in Cincinnati attendance from the Dayton residents will be sparse and when in Dayton attendance from the Cincinnati folks will be sparse.

I have also thought about having the meetings in each city once a month back-to-back. So, for instance, Dayton would be in September and Cincinnati would be in October. I wanted to keep the content the same but this becomes unrealistic as speakers usually aren't available two months in a row!

I am open to suggestions if anyone has a good operating model or has delt with this issue in the past.
