All in on IT
Microsoft has finally shown some signs of life in the area of podcasting. Various departments within MS have already promoted the idea and individuals have been podcasting and blogcasting for awhile now. Perhaps we are ready for a unified push? A mantra? An edict that each product team needs to have a semi-regular podcast or some rich delivery method for getting the word out on the streets about their product and its capabilities (podcast, blogcast – not webcast – this needs to be something ......
The Tech*Ed 2006 registration site is up and live, albeit a little rough. Some things are on the “information site” (like a map of all the hotels) but not on the actual page where you choose your hotel. There are only individual maps, which can be quite confusing if you have never been to Boston, like myself. And the links to the overall maps and PDF’s are broken. But, I figured it out and selected the Hilton Boston Logan due to its relatively reasonable price and adjacency to the ......
I don't have an Intel iMac and wont anytime soon, so I cannot personally verify this,
but here are instructions for dual booting an Intel Mac with Windows XP! Thank God there are hackers out there that find a way for us to do what we want to with the hardware we buy. You can try to protect your brand all you want to, but once I buy it, it is mine . . .
Windows Desktop Search has been released in an “Enterprise” version that allows for increased management, deployment, configuration and customization in a large environment. Windows Desktop Search – enabled for the enterprise The latest version of Windows Desktop Search (WDS) is optimized with features that help the enterprise IT manager easily customize, deploy and manage the installation of desktop search across all users and computers in their organization. IT managers can expect ......
I have six more invites to give out. Leave your name and email address in the comments. First come, first - oh you know the drill!
I have heard the rumors for the past few days, and apparently it will be announced tomorrow. This is reported to make Steve Jobs the largest individual Disney shareholder.
Just upload your iTunes Music Library.xml file to this nifty little web app and it will pull all of the cover art from Amazon’s website. Then drag and drop them in to the open iTunes. Viola! It seems a bit sluggish right now, no doubt a side effect of hitting Digg. Or it could just be the lame wifi at Chicago’s O’Hare airport.
I am installing a Windows Vista CTP build 5270 as we speak in a dual-boot configuration on my Thinkpad R52. This means I won’t get the nice Aero Glass effects (Damn you integrated Intel graphics chip!) but will be able to evaluate all the other aspects of Vista in the latest semi-public build. Cross your fingers. I loaded the ISO image via Alcohol and it is currently in what I assume is the “copying setup files to your hard drive” portion of the installation. I see a definite downside ......
This
document describes a simple configuration in which you use Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 to configure one guest operating system, and configure a server cluster that has two servers (nodes), either of which can support the guest if the other server is down.
From the excellent
Vladville blog I saw the
following item. I haven't been able to test it out yet but will soon on my upcoming trip.
The sharepoint team discusses some of the upcoming Sharepoint v3 in this roadmap article.
USMT 2.61 has been Released to WebMicrosoft® Windows® User State Migration Tool (USMT) version 2.6.1 migrates user files and settings during large deployments of Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP. This is a
cool article in that it compares screen shots of Vista and XP side by side. I haven't had time to completely read it but the screen shots and comparisons are well done. Check it out. It really illustrates
how much the UI has changed.
After two days with the Treo 700w I am a very happy camper. The complaints are minor and mostly stem from my lack of familiarity with the device and not a device shortcoming itself. One minor nit: for $400 cant you throw in a case to carry this around in? Despite my initial disappointment in hearing the screen was 240 x 240, it looks gorgeous and I don't find it overly cluttered. The screen on my Samsung i730 was a lot bigger, but then again, so was the device itself. I use the Treo for phone calls ......
My favorite RSS reader,
FeedDemon, is getting an update soon. I am currently running 1.6 RC2, which is great. However, a v2 beta is rumored to being released soon with many smokin new improvements. One of the lucky first alpha testers has some reviews of the work in progress
here.
I am counting down to see when the first modder has a
dual boot iMac (Intel version) dual booting with Windows Vista or XP …
Live Communication Server is a great instant messaging, presence and communication tool. In a small to medium business environment it is fairly simple to design and implement. When you scale out to an enterprise engagement (multiple thousands of users dispersed across multiple continents) the proper design and planning is critical to success. Putting in the proper “up-front” work is necessary as well as a proper accounting of all the factors that come in to play. Here is an excellent ......
My Treo 700w has arrived fresh from the FedEx man! w00t!
I will have my non-biased report up later this week. Have any questions or anything you are wondering about the device? Post to the comments and I will do my best!

Hello all 100 faithful blog readers! I have some Microsoft Live Messenger invitations to give away. Leave a comment with your email address and I will dole them out first come, first served. Give me about 12 hours to get the emails out as I am in a training class for the rest of the day.
Is anything you download from Google not labeled BETA? Well, I guess the search engine isn't! Anyhoo, they now have the Google Pack. A collection of various Google and other third party offerings designed to <marketing on> help your computer run better and provide much needed services such as photo editing and organization, search, directions, screensaver, anti virus, etc. They also include the Google Updater to automatically check for updates on all the included packages. Really, when is the ......

W00t! Should be here in 3–5 days!
Hot dang! iTunes is now offering condensed version of all the BCS bowls from ABC\ESPN for $1.99 a pop. I was going to look for the torrents, and may for the entire game, but the quality on these clips are most certainly going to be far superior than any torrent out there from a fan with a TiVO.

Its not as if the world was his oyster, but instead of buckling down in the NFL Europe and working towards a comeback, Maurice Clarett
has made yet another in a long string of bad decisions.
Oh my Buckeyes. Even I thought it would be a dog fight to the bitter end. After the first Irish possession I would have bet the house on it. But I love how my Buckeyes respond! Not only did they respond, they came back and dominated. The look in Laura Quinn’s eyes every time A.J. Hawk sent Brady Quinn to the turf was priceless. I am so happy they finally got Ted Ginn and Santonio involved. I was also missing Anthony Gonzalez, and was happy to see him come up clutch again in the fourth quarter! ......
I love the way Outlook 12 handles appointment updates. First off, you don't need to continuously accept appointment updates if you have already accepted the original request. You are only notified of the change. Included is a screen shot of a meeting change. Notice how it crosses out the old item and shows the updated time and date. Very easy to follow, very nicely done.
