Zune on Vista Part Duex
Even though the support wizards at Zune told me it wasn't compatible, I had a hunch it had more to do with me trying to install the previous version of ZuneSetup (the one that wasn't Windows Vista compatible) than the version of Vista I was using. Sure enough, in the comments and through my own confirmation I found this to be false. I re-imaged my laptop with a fresh install of Windows Vista Enterprise and ZuneSetup 1.2.5511.0 installed like a champ. My only complaint now is that I cannot authenticate...

Zune Has Worst. Support. Ever.
As I posted yesterday, Zune finally released its Windows Vista compatible client. I had called Zune support two times previously and had gotten credible support. However, this was terrible. After gleefully downloading the new update, I would launch ZuneSetup and then I would be told "No Zune Software Updates Available." I rebooted, tried it a couple of times again, always getting the same result. I am running Windows Vista RTM Enterprise edition. After totally stumping the level one technician who...

Zune Finally Releases Windows Vista Compatible Marketplace Software
The Zune team has finally released a version of the software and marketplace that is officially compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista. I have not installed it yet so I cannot vouch for the performance but I will have it in place tonight and will let you know if any glitches turn up. Read more about it at the Zune blog here...

XBox 360 Themed Zune Wallpapers
From on10.net comes a link to some great XBox 360 themed wallpapers for your Zune. Now, if only I could sync my damn Zune with Windows Vista. Rumor has it that internally all the Microsofties have the patch that makes the Zune software Vista compliant, but the rest of us have to wait until, oh yeah, consumer availability of Windows Vista in anothe4 45 days. Come on, wrap it in the "beta" verbiage like everything else and let us download it already!! Zune wallpapers courtesy of 360style.net; a sweet...

WTF - Podcast Management in Zune
I know, I ranted on the Zune already, but how the heck did the Zune team overlook building in some kick-butt pod\blogcast management and subscription tools in to the Zune player and software? It seems glaringly apparent to me that the only qualification for being on the team for this device was a love of obscure indie music and the color brown. Pod\blogcasts are no longer cutting edge, but a must-have, especially for an IT Pro looking for a device that can help him consume job-relevant content in...

WTF Windows Vista and Zune ?!?
So a lot of us ran out to Circuit City, Target, CompUSA, etc. to get our hands on Microsoft’s latest portable media offering – the super-hyped Zune. Zune has been in production, publicly, for at least the past 8 months. Even longer behind the scenes I am sure. At the same time Microsoft has also been feverishly developing and testing in preparation for release the latest incarnation of its desktop operating system – Windows Vista. Common sense would tell you that somewhere in that time span someone...
